Band Fade Checklist

Check six conditions before you fade a Bollinger or Keltner band tag inside a range: the tag itself, %B, band width, the higher-timeframe range, the candle at the tag, and momentum. Get a live score and a high-confidence, marginal, or skip verdict.

Price closed outside, or tagged, the 20-period, 2 standard deviation Bollinger Band on the timeframe you trade. 2 pts %B reads above 1.0 at the upper tag or below 0.0 at the lower tag, John Bollinger's own extreme reading. 2 pts Band width is not sitting at a multi-week low. A live squeeze favors a breakout over a fade. 2 pts The higher timeframe is range-bound, not trending, so this tag is a genuine range fade, not a fade against a trend. 2 pts A recognized reversal candle sits at the tag: hammer, shooting star, engulfing, tweezer, or piercing. 1 pt RSI(14) confirms exhaustion: above 70 at the upper tag or below 30 at the lower tag, Wilder's own overbought/oversold levels. 1 pt
